About patient discharge

After you discharge a patient, SmartFlow removes their patient card from the whiteboard. As a result, other staff can use the whiteboard to quickly and easily know which patients are admitted.

SmartFlow has different methods that you can use to make sure that a patient is prepared for a patient owner to collect them. You can use:
  • Treatment tasks for staff to know when to start discharge procedures
  • Workflow tasks for staff to know what discharge procedures to do

Treatment tasks for patient discharge

A practice manager can make a treatment parameter for patient discharge (for example, Discharge checklist). You can add the parameter to treatment templates. As a result, SmartFlow automatically adds the treatment to each flowsheet. After you agree the scheduled time that the patient owner will collect the patient, you can add a treatment task one hour before the scheduled time. As a result, other staff can quickly and easily know when to prepare the patient for the applicable client to collect.

Workflow tasks for patient discharge

The WORKFLOW pane of a flowsheet and whiteboards in workflow mode show workflow tasks. You can add workflow tasks to a flowsheet to easily show the necessary steps to make sure that a patient is prepared for discharge. For example, you can add workflow tasks to:
  • Make sure that a patient's medication is prepared
  • Make sure that the patient's discharge instructions are prepared
