About patient discharge

After you complete a patient's clinical care, you can discharge the patient. After you discharge the patient, SmartFlow removes the patient card from the whiteboard. As a result, other staff can use the whiteboard to quickly and easily see which patients are admitted.

There are different methods that you can use to make sure that a patient is prepared for a patient owner to collect them. You can use:
  • Parameters
  • Workflow tasks

A practice manager can make a parameter for patient discharge (for example, Discharge checklist). You can add the parameter to treatment templates, As a result, SmartFlow automatically adds the parameter to each flowsheet. After you agree the scheduled time that the patient owner will collect the patient, you can add a treatment task one hour before the scheduled time. As a result, other staff can quickly and easily see the time that the patient must be prepared for collection.

The WORKFLOW pane of a flowsheet and the workflow whiteboard shows workflow tasks. You can add workflow tasks to a flowsheet to quickly and easily show the necessary steps to make sure that a patient is prepared for discharge. For example, you can add workflow tasks to:
  • Make sure that a patient's medication is ready
  • Make sure that the patient's discharge instructions are ready
