About different template types and your PIMS

After a practice manager configures the SmartFlow integration for your practice information management system (PIMS) , you can select a treatment template when you admit a patient to SmartFlow. If your organization uses fixed time templates and non-fixed time templates, you must configure so that SmartFlow syncs them to your PIMS correctly.

SmartFlow only syncs the primary type of treatment templates that your organization uses to your PIMS. For example, if your organization primarily uses treatment templates without a fixed time, SmartFlow only syncs treatment templates without a fixed time to your PIMS.

If your organization has a boarding facility, a practice manager can configure the boarding whiteboard. You can only use fixed-time templates with the boarding whiteboard. If your organization primarily uses treatment templates without a fixed-time, then you must:
  1. Make a fixed-time treatment template with the name boarding
  2. Make a treatment template that does not use a fixed time with the same name and treatments
As a result, SmartFlow automatically selects the fixed-time treatment template when you admit the patient and:
  • Select the boarding whiteboard
  • Select the boarding treatment template
