About workflow task repeats

The Analytics screen shows information about your workflow tasks. For example, it shows the total time that patient's have been in the workflow task. And it shows the total number of repeats. The total repeats are the the amount of time of the first and last steps that a staff member completed.

The total repeats could show a larger value than the repeats of individual workflow tasks if a staff member skipped some of the workflow tasks. The first step is usually when a staff member makes a patient. So it is not necessarily the number of hospitalizations matching the criteria, but several hospitalizations completed workflow tasks. As a result, it measures the average time.

Time and repeats show the average time to complete a step. And it shows the quantity of hospitalizations that were SmartFlow uses to calculate the average.

If you have a workflow that has three workflow tasks, the screen shows the average that it took staff to complete each task, and the total number of times a patient had the workflow task. For example, you have a workflow with these workflow tasks:
  • An induction workflow task
  • A catheter install workflow task
  • A recovery workflow task

The screen could show that the induction workflow task took staff an average of 16 minutes to complete, and that the catheter had eight repetitions. The eight repetitions identifies that there were eight hospitalizations where staff had to install a catheter.

If the induction workflow task shows a value, but the recovery workflow task shows a higher value, that identifies that a staff member did not complete the induction workflow task.
Note: If a workflow task does not show a value, that identifies that a staff member did not complete the workflow tasks in the correct order.

SmartFlow does not count workflow tasks that staff members complete in the incorrect order.

Note: The primary purpose of the analytics feature is to help you identify the period of time that it takes staff to complete each workflow step. You can use this information to help improve your organization's workflows. But if staff complete the workflow tasks in the incorrect order, then you cannot use the analytics feature to compare w
