About lists management configuration

Use lists management to control sets of values that staff select when they record treatment for a patient.

To open the screen, go to the settings of your user account. Then, in the TEMPLATES AND FORMS section, select Lists Management. A practice manager keeps these tables correct for the practice.

Each table holds the values for one field. For example, the Problem table has the problems that staff can give to a patient, and the Breed table has the breeds. The tables include these subjects:
  • Medications
  • Patients
  • Procedures
  • Addresses

What you can do in the screen

In each table, you can:
  • Add an item, and give it a description
  • Change the name or the description of an item that your practice added
  • Change the description of a standard item
  • Find an item by its name or by its description
  • Remove the items that your practice does not use

In the Problem table and the Procedure table, you can also export the items in the table to a CSV file, or import items from a CSV file. Import and Export are in the more-actions menu in the header of the two tables. A CSV template is available to download.

Standard items and the items of your practice

Some tables have two types of list item.

A standard item is a unit of measurement that SmartFlow supplies. SmartFlow uses the concentration and the dosage of a medication to calculate a safe dosage range. To calculate this correctly, it uses the name of the unit. Thus, the name of a standard item is locked and you cannot remove a standard item.

You can add a description to a standard item, and make changes to the description. A description helps your staff know what an item is for. For a list of the standard items, refer to Standard items in Lists Management.

In the table, the Display name of standard items are a gray color. Thus, you can see which items are standard.

An item that your practice added does not have the same limitations as a standard item. For example, you can:
  • Change the item's name
  • Change the item's description
  • Remove the item
