Different methods to record treatment information more than once an hour

SmartFlow divides the patient sheet into different periods. Each treatment cell shows a one hour period. You cannot change the period that treatment cells show. There are different methods that you can use to tell staff to complete a treatment task more than once an hour.

When you add a treatment to the flowsheet, you can use the Instructions box to tell staff to record information more than once an hour (for example, every 15 minutes). When staff select a treatment task of the applicable flowsheet, SmartFlow shows the instructions.

As an alternative, you can use your device to set a timer to tell staff to record treatment information.

A patient has been admitted to your organization at 1:00 pm. To complete the patient's clinical care, you must record the patient's heart rate. The attending veterinarian wants staff to record the patient's heart rate at 15 minutes intervals. The veterinarian sets a 15 minute timer on their device. They tell staff to record the patient's heart rate when the timer ends, and to start a 15 minute timer again. The first timer ends at 1:15 pm. Staff use the treatment task that is scheduled for 1:00pm to record the applicable value. At 2:00pm, the 1:00 pm treatment task shows three values. Then, the staff use the 2:00 pm treatment task.
