Identify a medication that is necessary to administer less than once daily

If it is necessary to administer a medication less than once daily, use the Notes box to tell staff when they must administer it.

To identify the medication, do this procedure.
  1. Go to the whiteboard of the applicable patient.
  2. Select the applicable patient card.
    SmartFlow shows the patient's flowsheet.
  3. Select the plus button that is adjacent to MEDICATION.

  4. Use the Name box to select the applicable medication.
  5. Select Add.

  6. In the Start at (o'clock) box, select the time that staff must give the medication to the patient.

  7. In the Instructions box, enter the applicable information (for example, enter Give every other day).

  8. Make the other settings as necessary.
  9. Select Done.

The flowsheet has the medication. The Instructions box tells staff when they must dispense the medication.
