Change the dose rate of a medication

To show that you changed the dose rate of a medication, you must stop the medication, then add the medication to the flowsheet again. As a result, other staff know that you changed the dose rate of the medication.

This procedure is only applicable if you completed a medication treatment task.

To change the dose rate, do this procedure.

Go to the whiteboard of the applicable patient.
Select the applicable patient card.
SmartFlow shows the patient's flowsheet.
Select Edit.
Select Editing mode.
Find and select the applicable medication.
SmartFlow shows the medication settings.
Select D/C.
SmartFlow shows the Discontinue From dialog box.
Use the Discontinue From box to select the date and time that you changed the dose rate of the medication.
Select Discontinue.
The medication shows a gray color to identify that you stopped the medication.
Select the plus button that is adjacent to Medication.
SmartFlow shows your organization's medications.
Find and select the applicable medication.
SmartFlow shows the medication settings.
In the Dosage box, enter the new dose rate.
Make the other settings as necessary.
Select Done.
Select Exit editing mode.

The flowsheet shows the new dose rate of the medication:
