Configure patient colors

SmartFlow shows patient colors in whiteboards and whiteboard views. Configure patient colors to give each color a meaning (for example, "Recovery", "Surgery", or "DNR") that staff see on whiteboards, in the patient editor, on flowsheets, and in reports.

Note: This feature is only available for Early Adopters customers. The feature will be available for all customers at a later date.

The patient color palette is a single shared list that applies to every user in the clinic. You can define up to 10 color categories, and you can change them at any time.

Note: You configure patient colors in the SmartFlow web app from the Custom Colors settings page. This page is available to users with the applicable permission level.
  1. Select the user account button.
    The user account button
  2. Select SETTINGS.
    The SETTINGS command
SmartFlow shows a General settings screen.
  3. In the SETTINGS section, select Custom Colors.
SmartFlow shows the Custom Colors settings page.
  4. To add a color category, select + Add a color.
Note: You can define a maximum of 10 color categories.
  5. Use the color picker to select a color.
  6. Enter a name for the color.
Note: A name can have a maximum of 30 characters. The name is the meaning of the color (for example, "Recovery", "Critical", or "DNR"). SmartFlow shows the name as a tooltip when staff hover over the color in the patient editor.
  7. To change the sequence of the colors, select and drag a color to a new position.
If a practice manager also configures whiteboards to sort patients by color, the color sequence sets the patient order.
  8. Select Save.

SmartFlow saves the palette for the clinic. The named colors are then available in the patient editor, and staff can open the color legend on the whiteboard to see what each color means.
