Manually change the order of patients in a whiteboard view

In a whiteboard view that uses manual sort, you can move one patient at a time into the order that you want, instead of the view's automatic sort order. The view automatically saves the patient order and other staff that use the view can see the new order.

A practice manager must enable manual sort for the applicable view. When a view uses manual sort, a drag handle shows at the left of each patient card.

You must have the applicable permission to change the order of patients. Staff who do not have the permission see the patients in the manual sort order, but cannot change it.

Usually, a whiteboard view shows patients in an automatic sort order, such as arrival, doctor, color, or species. When a view uses manual sort, you can select and drag a patient into the position you want.

  1. Go to a whiteboard.
  2. Use the Select a view button at the top of the whiteboard screen to select the applicable view.
    Select a view button
  3. Select and drag the handle of the patient that you want to move to a new position.
    Drag handle
Note: The handle is at the left of each patient card and shows a Drag to reorder tooltip when you hover over it. As you drag, SmartFlow shows where the patient will go.
SmartFlow saves the new position and shows Sorted by: Manual above the patient cards.
  4. Repeat step 3 for all patients that you want to move.

SmartFlow shows the patients in the order you set. The whiteboard view automatically saves the patient order and other staff that use the view can see the new order.

Tip: To return the view to its automatic sort order, select Reset above the patient cards.
