Change the dose rate of a medication

To show that you changed the dose rate of a medication, you must stop the medication, and add the medication to the flowsheet again. As a result, other staff can see that you changed the dose rate of the medication.

  • Make sure that the flowsheet has the applicable medication
  • Make sure that you completed a treatment task of the applicable medication
To change the dose rate, do this procedure.
  1. Select the applicable patient card.
    SmartFlow shows the patient's flowsheet.
  2. Select Edit.

  3. Select Editing mode.

    SmartFlow lets you make many changes to the flowsheet at the same time.
  4. Find and select the applicable medication.

  5. Select D/C.

    SmartFlow shows the Discontinue From dialog box.
  6. Use the Discontinue From box to select the date and time that you changed the dose rate of the medication.

  7. Select Discontinue.
    The medication shows a gray color to identify that you stopped the medication.
  8. Select the plus button that is adjacent to Medication.

  9. Find and select the applicable medication.

  10. In the Dosage box, enter the new dose rate.
  11. Make the other settings as necessary.
  12. Select Done.

  13. Select Exit editing mode.

    SmartFlow does not let you make many changes to the flowsheet at the same time.
