Settings of the diet calculator
SmartFlow has a diet calculator. For the correct operation of the calculator, it is important that you know the functions of the settings of the calculator.

Type | Use the Type box to select the applicable type of food. Use the Dry setting and the Wet setting to identify if the food is dry or wet. | No. Set a value for each patient. |
RER calories | The RER calories box shows the patient's resting energy requirements (RER). To calculate the patient's RER, the calculator uses the equation 70 × patient's body weight(kg)⁰·⁷⁵. | Yes. |
Condition factor | The Condition factor box automatically shows 1.2. If necessary, you can change the value of the Condition factor box. Note: 1.2 is the maintenance requirement for the average neutered adult patient. | Yes. |
Total food calories | The Total food calories setting shows the calorific quantity that you must give the patient. To calculate the value of the Total food calories box, the calculator uses the equation RER × condition factor. | Yes. |
Calories per cup | The Calories per cup setting shows the calorific value of each cup of the food that you select. If necessary, you can change the value of the Calories per cup setting. Note: SmartFlow uses the standard cup size of 250ml. | Yes. |
Per feeding | If you select Dry, the Per feeding box shows the quantity of food in cups that you must give the patient. If you select Wet, the Per feeding box shows the quantity of food in cans that you must give the patient. | No. Set a value for each patient. |
